Lipidfiltration - effective, compatible lipid apheresis

The Lipidfiltration developed by DIAMED has been used for lipid apheresis for more than 35 years. In Lipidfiltration, the blood is separated by the plasma separator Plasmaflo® into blood cells and blood fluid (plasma). The plasma is subsequently heated and directed through the Lipidfilter. Here, it passes through a material with microscopic pores, that specifically hold back LDL cholesterol as well as other risk factors of atherosclerosis such as lipoprotein(a), fibrinogen and also triglycerides.

The cleansed plasma is mixed with the blood cells again and returned to the patient. The patient continuously and exclusively receives his own cleansed blood. The lipid filtration is usually carried out every one to two weeks and lasts about two to three hours per treatment. With regards to the patients, the lipid filtration, which is very compatible, removes up to 75% of LDL cholesterol and lipoprotein(a) from the blood per treatment.
